Last of Tokyo Photos

Sorry this post might take a while to load if you're at work.
I just wanted to post all these photos and move on.
Trying to catch up. Arghh!!!

Here is some yoghurt from downstairs that I had for breakfast.
I thought the bottle was very cute. I think the yoghurt was actually set in the bottle.

Toasted roast vegetable sandwich for breakfast.
Wish I had one now...Mmmmm Toasties in Winter are the best!

Pistachio cake. Sooooooooo good !!! Ommmggg. Makes Brunettis seems horrible in comparison. Haha!

Here is a photo of D taking a photo of me. We do this kind of thing. Haha.

Cool shop fit out in Shinjuku...
I really want it for my house.

Oh and I forgot to post about these Harajuku crepes last time I did my Harajuku post.
They are so yummy. A heart attack in a crepe!!!

Mmmmmm SO yummy!!

Crepe envy.

But then 2 mins later I get my own crepe! YAY

Taste test !!

Crepe Success!!
I got Strawberry cheesecake. SO gross but so yummy.
There is a Harajuku crepe style store in Melbourne Central if anyone wants to try one!

Here are some cakes we got from the cake shop downstairs at the hotel.
I have no idea what this was. I just got it because it looked weird.
Some sort of flour noodle cake that had some sort of booze in it.
It was weird.

Looks like raw spaghetti no?

This cake was SOOOOOO yummy!
I'm not usually all into desserts but the presentation of cakes in Japan sucks you in.
The cream and raspberries in this made it so nice.

MmMMmmmMMMm...

Ordering coffee in different countries is always interesting.
I think we have the best coffee in Melbourne.
I don't understand why other countries have horrible coffee.
Anyway,
D and I ordered " 2 soy lattes"
and this came....

I think thats enough to make about 8 cups of coffee.
Not too sure what the brown stuff is...????
I think the white was just warmed up soy milk.
It was weak.

We received this lovely chocolate bar thing.
I remembered it from the last time we went to Japan. It's very nice. The apricot bit is my favourite. I love apricot!

This is the window in our room !!!
I was so scared to do this ! I think I asked D a million times "So, are you sure the window wont fall out?"
But I did it ! My heart was beating so fast. I hate heights!!

I think we were on the 46th floor. Is that right D? I cant remember.
My face is all sorts of weird here. I think I was feeling v nervous about being so close to the window and just wanting D to hurry up and take the photo. Eeek!
I wish I had another photo that wasn't so wanky posey but I don't. You can all laugh at this one. Laugh at my expense. Just not too much. Hahaha

On the 43rd floor we had a pasta lunch before leaving Tokyo! I think the place is called Grindole. I could be wrong.

I had some sort of power smoothy. It cost about 6 times the amount of a bloody boost juice.
It was odd.
I'm not sure if it made me feel better.
They had them in the Paris Park Hyatt too but I never tried one.
I was feeling a bit tired and lethargic so I thought I would try the power smoothy.
I liked the presentation.
The bread stick was really good.

Yummy salad!
All the salads I had in Japan were sooo nice! Crispy and crunchy. The lettuce was never soggy or soft.
Thank you Japan for your fantastic lettuce. I enjoyed it.

Some random bronze fish downstairs at the entrance.
Hello Fish.

Good-bye Park Hyatt Tokyo
:( :( :( :(

I want to go back nowwwwwwwwwww :( :( :(

Arghh. That took FOREVER!!
I am going to go get a coffee to restore my energy levels.
Have a lovely day everyone!!!!

New York Bar & Grill and Shinjuku at night.

After our long days in Tokyo we liked to go upstairs to the New York Bar & Grill for nightcaps.
It had nice cocktails and a live jazz band every night. They were v good.
It is one of my favourite places in Tokyo.
The view at 52 storeys high is pretty amazing too ! It's where they shot Lost in Translation as well. If you have seen the movie you might remember the scenes in the bar?

I wore this Kirrily Johnston kaftan style dress. It is such a good travel dress because it is crinkle style so no ironing required! WOO!!

I wore this Make Believe necklace that D got me for Christmas last year. I don't think I have blogged about it yet?? Not sure.
Anyway, here it is!
It's pretty heavy. I get neck pains wearing it.
I might have a sensitive neck so don't let it put you off if you were thinking about getting on.

I wore my hair up this night because it was quite late and no time to get ready.
I think it makes me look like a boy. It's a very rare sighting of me with hair up. Haha!

Here we ordered a "Dessert tasting plate for 2"

UM Who are these 2 people? Giants??!!!
This is huge !!!
It's seriously like a dessert plate for 8 !!
I'm not complaining. We smashed it.
Ha ha ! It did take about an hour though.

New York Cheesecake with raspberry and cream.

I think this was strawberry ice-cream and kiwi fruit gelati. I'm not 100% sure. D correct me if I'm wrong.
I love fresh mint though. I always eat it and D freaks out because he thinks its for decoration only.
Meh!

This passionfruit tart was ULTRA tangy. My mouth goes all weird just thinking about it.
It was nice though.

Some sort of chocolate brownie number.
I would say this was the least nice of the 4 because its nothing special really.
Just a bit of chocolate and flour.
Meh

Nice clear shot of the sky?
Hahhaha

How funny is this photo?
With the flash off it creates the weirdest photos if there is movement.
I look like I'm doing some sort of karate action.

The lights of Shinjuku.

Here is Pachinko. I've never played. It looks boring to me.

Lots of bikes.
D makes a nice little cameo there on the left.

Cute penguin.
This shop sold so many random things. It was open 24 hours.
On our last trip to Japan we had to make a emergency suitcase purchase at midnight and it saved my ass. Thank you penguin shop!

Down a side street...

Noodles...

Laneway bar..

And that is the end of the post!
I have to get back to Mothers Day duties.
I just wanted to post today because I realised it has been a little while since the last one.
Hopefully I will be able to finish the Japan posts this week!

Hope you all have a lovely Mothers Day!!

Park Hyatt Tokyo

Hello!!

I am finally back and trying to settle in. Starting my 20 million loads of washing. YAY.
Anyway.
D and I decided to take a quick trip to Japan after he finished a huge project at work, just to take a minute out and relax.
The whole work/engagement thing has been so much lately and we just wanted to get away from it and spend some quality time together.

We took an overnight flight and flew Singapore Airlines.
Those of you who know me know I dislike Qantas with a passion ( been screwed over one too many times).
I recommend Singapore over any other airlines.
The service/meals/seats are miles above other airlines. Especially Qantas.
Singapore don't treat vegetarians like second class citizens which is nice.
It was also really nice to have a full bed to sleep on.

Here is the standard photo before take off that I like to take on all holidays. D hates it.
I think its fun to take a photo of us together before we leave. He doesn't. Anyway he took one of me and sooked about taking one together. Typical men. Boo.

Homie behind me likes pointing to his forehead. He did it a lot during the flight.

Here is our room in Tokyo. We stayed at the Park Hyatt. It's where they filmed Lost in Translation with Bill Murray and that other girl...whatshername Scarlett Johansen.
We stayed here last time in Tokyo and the service is second to none...worldwide...I say this even though I haven't been to hardly anywhere to compare. hahahhaha. I just imagine!

Do you like the leaves above the bead? Yeah me too. I often dream of leaves in my bedroom as a feature.
I think they were actually real but I was too scared to scrunch one up. hahaha!

Here is our bathroom. It had a BIDET. This is my 5th time to Japan and I only just tried one for the first time. It was SCARY but not as bad as a though. If you don't want to hear about it move on.
So, I thought the bidet would shoot the water straight into my a hole and I'd go screaming across the room. But actually, it's like a low pressure stream that shoots at the top of your crack and trickles down. You can adjust the water pressure. It was also warm water. I thought it would be cold.
Then there is a fan system that dries you off.
It was odd. I didn't feel violated like I thought I would. I'm not sure if I would use it again.
Have you guys used bidets?
How did they make you feel? I WANT DETAILS!!

Below is our little gifts we got. You get new gifts every 3rd day.
Here we have some herb water in "rose hips" and chamomile flavour.
There is some sort of Japanese sweet. I'm not sure what its called but it was good.
Does anyone know what it is?
It was all different flavours like green tea, sesame, sweet potato...hmm

Down below is the New York Deli where we had brunch nearly everyday we were there.
Just squint and you can kind of see inside the delicatessen. ( on both sides and there was a side on the right too)

The view on the other side looking out...

Here I am scoffing down.
You can see I am STILL wearing Chanel Elephant polish. I think I'm finally ready to move on for a couple of weeks though. It has been about 6 weeks straight.

Some lovely babaganoush...Is that the right spelling?
Looks a bit like spew doesn't it? Lovely tasty spew.

Let me tell you.
I ordered this little strawberry cake thinking it would taste like shiz. When a cake looks pretty, it very very rarely tastes as good as it looks.
This tasted amazing.
I think I could go as far as to say it was the best cake I have ever tried in my life.
I should of bought 100.
Mmmm I will miss you strawberry cake. I will.
It had inside the spongey bit some sort of beautiful strawberry sauce.

Here I am pretending to buy a train ticket. If you look close, I already have the tickets in my hand but D made me reenact the process for a photo.

Here I get on a train at Harajuku station.
What a cute looking couple.
I noticed just then if you look to the left of the picture you can see a girl in a weird pink get up.

I am finding the whole japan/photo/blog thing overwhelming.
Its taking like 30 years to go through photos. Blogger is taking 50 years to upload them.
ARGH!

On the upside, I was pretty excited to have a real soy latte this morning. Pretty excited indeed!
I must go and check up on everyones blogs too!
I am v excited to see what you have all been up to!

Hope you all had a lovely ANZAC long weekend. I got to catch up with some family and my uncle showed me my grandfathers old hat. I got to try it on.
He passed when I was 2 or 3 so my memories of him are very limited.
It was so cool to see his hat. It was a very cool paperboy kind of style one and I'm glad it has been kept after all these 25+ years.
I also got to wear my other grandfathers war medal.
Both my parents went to the dawn service and then my dad let me wear it after that.
It was a good day. A very weird one seeing as though I came home from Japan that day and thinking about how my grandfather was in Japan all those years ago.
He was posted there after the war on some sort of peace keepers mission and fell in love with the country. He made lots of Japanese friends and I think he would be happy to look down on me and see that I got to love the country that he loved all those years ago.
Do you guys have any ANZAC stories? Please share!

Over and out.
xoxo
